John L. Neu is a globally recognized leader in his field. With his decades of experience, John built Hugo Neu into one of the largest metal recycling companies in the world. The company, having divested its recycling portfolio in 2007, remains active under John’s leadership and is moving forward with building and managing opportunities in recycling, real estate, water transportation, and cleantech.
Hugo Neu was founded in 1947 by John’s father, the late Hugo Neu. John, a graduate of Cornell University, Harvard Law School and the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School, has been with the company for 45 years and became CEO in 1985. Under his leadership, the business grew to become a global leader in metals recycling. John also has considerable experience in the international shipping business and in industrial redevelopment.
John, with his wife Wendy Kelman Neu, is actively involved in a number of non-profit organizations with strong commitments to local communities, animals and the environment, and social justice.
